Description from the seller
Pair of Japanese bronze okimono – man and woman in traditional dress – early 20th century
Elegant pair of cast bronze okimono depicting a standing man and woman in traditional Japanese clothing, probably produced in the late Meiji / early Shōwa period for the export market.
The man wears layered robes and hakama and raises one arm in a lively gesture, while the woman is wrapped in flowing drapery and stands in a calm, modest pose.
Country of origin: Japan
Material: bronze, dark brown patina.
Period: early 20th century (Meiji / Shōwa era)
Dimensions:
Man: height approx. 22 cm
Woman: height approximately 18 cm.
Condition: good vintage condition with minor wear, small surface scratches, and patina consistent with age and normal use; no visible cracks or repairs (please see photos for your own impression).
Both figures have closed bases without maker’s mark or signature, typical for unmarked decorative bronzes.
These sculptures display fine modeling of the garments and a warm patina, making them a charming decorative pair for a classic or Asian-inspired interior.
