Toon van Driel (Amsterdam, February 16, 1945) is a Dutch comic artist.
After working for a while at an advertising agency and as a stewardess at KLM, Van Driel created F.C. Knudde. This comic strip, which revolves around the bizarre adventures of a football club, appeared three times a week, and later daily, on the sports page of the Algemeen Dagblad newspaper from 1973 onward. The adventures of defender Jaap and goalkeeper Dirk quickly became incredibly popular, prompting numerous comic albums. The strip also appeared on NU.nl for many years.
Five years after F.C. Knudde, Van Driel made De Stamgasten (The Regulars), this time featuring animals. Pigs, penguins, camels, and giraffes find themselves in the most absurd situations, often displaying human traits.
Other comics by Van Driel include The Stuntels, André van Duin (about André van Duin), Hullie, The Weltevree family, The latecomers and Gorp.
In 1988, Van Driel received the Stripschapprijs for his entire body of work.
The parcel will be sent registered / insured. You can also pick up the item at our comic book store in 's Gravendeel.
