Pierre Nicolas Chantreau (1741-1803) was a French botanist, traveler, and writer, interested in natural sciences and the cultures of the countries he visited.
His book, published in multiple volumes, is a valuable testimony of the life and customs of England, Scotland, and Ireland at the end of the 18th century, including observations on geography, politics, economy, customs, and, in particular, the local flora.
