The story of the Chivas Brothers begins in a grocer's shop in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1801. As the business grew, the Chivas Brothers quickly gained a reputation as suppliers of high quality goods, provisions and malt whiskies to their customers. In recognition of the reputation and quality of their business, James Chivas and his partner Charles Stewart are honoured with the first of several Royal Guarantees awarded by Queen Victoria, as suppliers of goods and provisions to the Royal Household. James and John Chivas become pioneers in the art of selecting and combining various aged malt and grain whiskies in the style of the Chivas House, i.e. smooth, rich and with an excellent harmony of flavours. This tradition has been passed down from generation to generation and has been carefully preserved to this day.
