Description from the seller
Riccardo De Marchi was born in Mereto di Tomba in 1964. He lives and works in Flaibano, Udine. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice until the mid-1980s.
Initially approaching an informal, material-based painting, Riccardo De Marchi then abandoned traditional painting techniques, entrusting the iron sheets, painted and perforated, with the task of expressing the complexity of space. This research, begun in 1989, combines the core idea and material. Shadow and light, surface and thickness, concave and convex perforations outline a kind of smaller space that exists within the larger space, ideal and private, beyond natural boundaries.
His monochromes attempt to create a new grammar of painting. It is an idea developed over time, stemming from an omnipresent desire for infinity. On steel plates, plexiglass, iron, dots, holes, pauses, cryptographic elements of a grammar yet to be invented or, better, deciphered. Allusions, symbols, geometries that require stopping (to touch, to profane), to consider the hyperbolic balance of bipolarities that only the arcane power of silence can express. Presence-absence, light-shadow, sign-meaning intersect in their distant proximity and expand the points, fill the holes, animate the pauses. Silent writing that does not need to be explained, interpreted, but only mystically experienced.
Description
Work belonging to the mature production of the artist, in which he abandons traditional material painting by relying on the working and perforation of metal sheets, expressing the complexity of space. A medium-sized piece measuring 45x36 cm, signed and dated on the back, in excellent condition.
Guarantees careful packaging and shipping.
