Omega vintage manual-wind wristwatch from the 1950s with Cal. 283 movement (17 jewels), rose gold-plated 34 mm case, reference 14714-3-SC, original silvered dial, leather strap, year 1959, in good condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Presented here is a vintage hand-wound wristwatch by Omega, produced in the 1950s, distinguished by its exceptionally large, full-size mechanical movement — a feature increasingly sought after by knowledgeable collectors.
At the heart of this watch is the Omega calibre 283, a large manual-winding movement with 17 jewels, known for its robust architecture, generous proportions, and excellent long-term serviceability. Unlike many smaller mid-century dress watches, this calibre fills the case properly, offering visual balance and mechanical presence. The movement is clearly signed OMEGA – Seventeen 17 Jewels – Swiss, and remains correct for the period.
The watch is housed in a rose gold–plated case with elegant, elongated lugs. The proportions are classic and well balanced, and the case retains its original geometry with visible, honest signs of age. The caseback is signed Fab. Suisse – Swiss Made, consistent with Omega production of the era.
The dial is original, featuring a clean silvered surface with applied baton hour markers and slim matching hands. The layout is restrained and highly legible, representing Omega’s understated design language of the 1950s. Natural aging and light patina are present and fully consistent with an untouched original dial.
Fitted with a leather strap, this Omega represents a pure mechanical timepiece, valued not for complications but for the quality, size, and construction of its movement — attributes that define serious vintage watchmaking.
Condition:
Good vintage condition. The watch shows visible signs of age and wear consistent with its history. The movement is complete and original. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
