Description from the seller
Neoclassical set of two brass candlesticks in lily shape, featuring a central cherub face and rich figurative relief. Empire Revival, late 19th / early 20th century. Likely French. Solidly made with a beautiful patina. Sculptural and decorative object.
These elegant candlesticks are inspired by classical antiquity, where the lyre symbolizes art, harmony, and civilization. The centrally placed cherub face, with wings that seamlessly flow into the curved arms of the lyre, gives the objects a pronounced allegorical and sculptural character. The vertical strings and refined details emphasize the high quality of the casting.
The design closely aligns with the neoclassical and Empire Revival tradition, in which classical motifs were reinterpreted for high-quality decorative objects. Thanks to their balanced proportions and warm patina, these candlesticks function not only as functional objects but also as independent works of art within both classical and eclectic interiors.
