About the work
With 音速 (Onsoku) Sonic, I wanted to create a 'contemporary print': a pop scene (Sonic, symbol of absolute speed) fused with the codes of ukiyo-e.
The composition, flat areas, sky gradients, and layout (title cartouches) are a direct homage to Utagawa Hiroshige: this way of establishing a calm, almost meditative landscape, then introducing movement into it.
Here, a blazing trajectory that cuts through the serenity of the setting.
