NO RESERVE PRICE – 6 Bottles – 2016 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Grosses Gewächs – Weingut Haart
An exceptional opportunity to acquire six bottles of one of the Mosel’s most highly regarded dry Rieslings: Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Grosses Gewächs from the historic VDP estate Weingut Haart.
The Heritage and Prestige of Weingut Haart
The Haart family winemaking tradition dates back to 1337, making them one of the oldest winegrowing families in the Mosel region. This centuries-old connection to the land is the foundation of their quality. Weingut Haart has been a member of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter) since 1992, Germany’s elite association of top estates. VDP membership guarantees strict standards of viticulture and winemaking.
The Grosses Gewächs (GG) designation signifies a dry wine sourced from a VDP.Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) vineyard—the pinnacle of the VDP quality pyramid. This is an official guarantee of the highest standards, including limited yields, selective hand-harvesting, and winemaking dedicated to showcasing the pure, complex character of the single slate site. Piesporter Goldtröpfchen is one of the most iconic vineyards in the Mosel.
The Wine – Vintage 2016
The 2016 vintage is widely praised for its precision, racy acidity, and intense minerality. Mosel Fine Wines scored the 2016 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen GG at 94 points, highlighting its purity and elegance. Suggested drinking window: 2024 to 2036, with immense aging potential.
Critic Quotes
“Mineral intensity and textural richness are the foundations of this dry, intensely steely Riesling. Its fruit profile is restrained, offering bracing concentrated hits of lemon, green apple and lime. The palate is rich and silky yet deft, lingering with a firm phenolic grip. It’s a taut nervy wine to hold back till 2023 and enjoy for years.” — Wine Enthusiast, 94 points
“Bright yellow colour with slightly golden hue. Opulent nose reminiscent of orange blossoms, citrus fruit, ripe peaches. On the palate well structured with crisp acidity, fine minerality, convincing aromatic length, lingering citrus fruit in the finish.” — Markus Del Monego MW, 94 points
“A great Moselle GG – so easy to drink even in this young age. In the nose candied orange peel, yellow stone fruits with peach and apricots, slightly exotic as well, nice slate minerality. On the palate gentle start with great spicy minerality, smooth and elegant acidity which is present and perfectly well integrated, finishes juicy and spicy.” — Heroes of Riesling tasting note
