Description from the seller

ANGOLA PORTUGUESE. 20 Escudos. 1955.

- Value: 20 Escudos.
Year: 1955.
Inscriptions: REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA 1955 / ANGOLA 20$00.
- Rating: Without circular.

Silver coin of the Portuguese Republic minted for the colony of Angola, with a design of strong colonial symbolic significance. The obverse shows the Portuguese national shield superimposed on an armillary sphere, surrounded by the legend REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA and the date, a characteristic element of metropolitan issues of the period. The reverse features the specific shield of Angola, crowned and placed over the armillary sphere, with the value 20$00 at the bottom and floral motifs on the sides balancing the composition. The piece exhibits an attractive light silver tone, well-defined reliefs in the heraldic quarters and on the sphere, and a solid, balanced aesthetic, representative of Portuguese colonial issues from the mid-20th century.

Disclaimer: For orders shipped outside the European Union, I want to make it absolutely clear that I ship from Spain. This means that if the package is sent to any country outside the European Union, and/or inside the EU that has a special tax agreement (for example: Canary Islands), it might be stopped in your local customs, and they might ask you to pay taxes. This is a customs legal procedure and is completely out of our control. Thank you for your understanding.
