"Pieles" is a series where Ella Suárez explores the tactile and vital traces of the animal, translated into organic gestures and living surfaces.
In Pieles, she opens an exploration of the primal memory that persists in bodies and territories. The series does not depict animal skins literally but suggests, through organic gestures and diffuse atmospheres, the latent energy of the wild.
The stains and glazes expand and cluster following an unpredictable logic, like remnants of a nature that has not been tamed. Each form seems to emerge from a tactile impulse, from an instinct that brushes, protects, or marks territory, leaving traces that are both physical and emotional.
More than illustrating the animal, Suárez proposes an intuitive cartography of instinct: living surfaces where vital rhythms can be sensed, echoes of ancient skins, invisible pulsations. Pieles invites the viewer to read beyond the image: to venture into that uncertain terrain where the human and the animal still blend.
Authenticity of the work
Each piece is hand-signed on the lower side of the canvas, visible on the back once the painting is mounted on a stretcher. The signature does not interfere with the pictorial surface and is accompanied by the title of the work, the year of creation, and Ella Suárez's signature. It is delivered with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), which certifies its origin and authorship. This practice underscores the artist's commitment to the integrity of her work and ensures the provenance of each piece.
Clarification note
Some reference images may show slight tonal variations compared to the original artwork. This is due to the lighting conditions of the environments where the paintings are displayed, which can affect contrast or color temperature. The photographs have been taken with the utmost care, but it is important to consider that these nuances may subtly vary depending on the device used to view them.
Shipping details
The works are shipped rolled in a protective tube, a method that ensures safety during transportation and offers a more economical and sustainable option. Each canvas includes an additional 6 cm margin on each side to facilitate re-stretching, which can be performed by the buyer or a professional. This approach allows for more efficient delivery without compromising the integrity of the artwork.
About the artist:
Ella Suárez is a Cuban-Spanish visual artist, graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana, Cuba, with a master's degree in Design and Art completed in Barcelona. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and institutions in Cuba, Spain, and the United States, and throughout her career, she has received various scholarships and awards.
Suárez finds in the intersection between the Caribbean imaginary and the European pictorial tradition a fertile ground for exploring the tensions between the organic and the abstract. Through a refined technique and a singular mastery of controlled chance, he creates compositions where vegetal textures, animal patterns, and indeterminate atmospheres coexist in balance.
Inspired by botany, natural rhythms, and transforming landscapes, her work explores the invisible traces of time and the sensory memory of matter. Each of her pieces invites the viewer into an intimate and contemplative space, where the ephemeral and the permanent intertwine in a silent dance.
