Paris, at the house of J. F. Josse, 1730.

Two works in one volume, in-12 (16 x 9.5 cm), brown granulated calfskin (period binding), decorated spine with raised bands, title piece in morocco, red edges, ex-libris, [4]-330-[2]; [4]-275-[1] pages (complete). Corners rubbed, small tears at the headbands, upper hinge split in the last two compartments. Overall good condition.

Less celebrated than the Memoirs of the Count of Gramont, his tales remain delightful reads where fairy magic unfolds between...
"Orient and Chivalry." (BnF). Gumuchian (Les livres de l'enfance, 2930) provides this laudatory comment on Fleur d'Epine: "... delightful fairy tale, one of the masterpieces of the genre, and one of the best works by this renowned author."

Provenance: Josy Mazodier (20th-century bookplate); another modern heraldic bookplate.
