Renata Giannelli’s Ciliegine (2024) is a hand-signed sculpture in burnt iron wire and cotton pulp paper with 14 kt gold leaf, measuring 40 × 45 × 17 cm and weighing 1 kg, finished in beige, white, brown and gold, and illuminated from within by 120 USB-powered LED points.
Description from the seller
Ciliegine: luminous sculpture in handmade paper pulp, cooked iron wire, and gold leaf.
The sculpture depicts two ethereal cherries, modeled with cooked iron wire that outlines their essential contours. The lightweight structure acts as a transparent skeleton, inside which the pulp of cotton paper, textured and irregular, covers some surfaces, creating a delicate interplay of solids and voids. The piece is illuminated from within: light filters through the paper, spreading softly and warmly, while the iron traces remain backlit, drawing a graphic pattern in the air. The result is a fragile and poetic object that evokes childhood memory and, at the same time, the precariousness of matter, transformed into a moon of light suspended between presence and absence.
The sculpture can be placed on a wall or rested on a shelf, has a self-supporting structure, and is irregularly covered in cotton pulp paper. It is internally illuminated by 120 LED light points with a USB output plug.
The oxidation of pulp of paper in contact with iron creates a coloration with rust-like shades.
Suitable for any type of indoor environment.
Each artwork is entirely handcrafted by the artist and is signed; it is packaged in a special manner with sewn and decorated jute bags.
