Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Yves Bonnefoy, Remarques sur le dessin, original edition, 1/50 on Arches vellum (no. VIII), Paris, 1993, 103 pages, French, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Original edition and a very beautiful copy of the luxury edition, one of the 50 copies on vélin d'Arches (no. VIII).
Softcover, with printed and illustrated cover featuring a detail from Degas's charcoal drawing 'Woman Emerging from the Bath.' All housed in a cardboard slipcase.
In very good condition, discreet marks on the back cover, impeccable interior.
Entirely uncut and untrimmed.
What vibrations in this stroke that sometimes ventures into spots, under highlights of a bit of color: the drawing! This drawing that may seem less at first glance to those who loved grand altarpieces, or the transformed material in a Titian, a Vermeer, or the storm that is about to break or lingers in Delacroix, but which sometimes reveals itself just as much, if not even more, in the almost nothing of a line that hesitates, that interrupts itself. As if the admission of an insufficiency, as long as it is recognized at the height of mastery, was the truth before which all else fades, but also an influx, something like a source.
Yves Bonnefoy, born on June 24, 1923, in Tours, and died on July 1, 2016, in Paris 15th, was a French poet, art critic, and translator. He is considered a major poet of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
