First illustrated edition, by René Ben Sussan, of "Le bois du Templier pendu" by Henri Beraud, decorated with 24 lithographs (printed by Mourlot), including 20 full-page.

Copy bound in a beautiful red half-morocco with bands, smooth spine decorated with a mosaic leather Templar, accompanied by the title and author in gilt stamps. Gilt head. Covers and spine preserved.

The 23rd book in the "Les Beaux Romans" collection, with a print run of 1,150 copies. One of 1,050 numbered copies on Rives vellum, this one numbered 847.

Condition: Binding in excellent condition, interior fresh and clean. Very nice copy.

In 1309, a Templar fleeing the persecution of Philip the Fair arrives in the small village of Sabolas, in the Lyonnais region... Henri Béraud (1885-1958) composed this novel in 1926, the time when he wrote in “le Canard Enchaîné” and “le Crapouillot”
