Description from the seller
Original edition of this beautiful tribute to Colette, a press copy enriched with a signed inscription from Jean Cocteau to Benoît Braun: [with my Christmas wishes].
The Acceptance Speech at the Royal Academy of Language and French Literature of Belgium by Cocteau, followed by the welcoming speech by Fernand Desonay, director of the Academy.
Almost 30 years after Colette was elected to Anna de Noailles's seat, it is Jean Cocteau who succeeds her at the Royal Academy of French Language and Literature of Belgium. Colette and Cocteau had known each other for a long time. In his 'Portraits-souvenir' published in 1935, the poet recalled having crossed paths with Colette in the company of Willy and Polaire at the Palais des Glaces, in the early years of the century. From time to time, they exchanged their books and a few letters, but it was the Palais-Royal that would bring them together, this time as neighbors. Colette mentions her frequent visits to L’Étoile Vesper and Le Fanal bleu. Numerous photographs, sound recordings, and some films attest to this. Behind the sometimes spectacular nature of their demonstrations of friendship, one can sense an obvious complicity.
Printing on standard paper.
Paperback, in original condition. Very good condition, slight stain on the first cover. Interior impeccable. Beautiful copy.
