Original edition of this novel by the Haut-Savoyard writer Henry Bordeaux (1870-1963), set against the former monastery of La Chartreuse du Reposoir.
Choice copy, bound in full Havana calf leather, decorated with a magnificent pyrographic design: on the front cover, a lady with an umbrella in light relief; on the back cover, a cross of Jesus; on the spine, the title and geometric motifs (parallel bands lengthwise). Gilt top. Crafted with great meticulousness. The binding is signed at the bottom right of the front cover with 'RFH 1925'.
Covers and spine preserved.
Condition: Binding in excellent condition. Interior fresh, with uncropped margins. Very beautiful copy.
