AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Luigi Carlo di Borbone (Versailles, March 27, 1785 – Paris, June 8, 1795) was the third child, the second son, of Louis XVI of France and Marie Antoinette of Austria-Lorraine. At birth, he was granted the title of Duke of Normandy; after the death of his older brother, the dauphin Louis Joseph, in 1789, he became the new dauphin of France. When this title was abolished by the French Constitution of 1791, he became known as Luigi Carlo, Prince Royal.

Since the death of his father in 1793, he was considered the king of France and Navarre under the name Louis XVII by the French monarchists and European courts, although he was still actually imprisoned by the republicans. Because of this, his uncle later took the name Louis XVIII. He was never actually crowned nor did he ever reign officially. He died at the age of ten, in 1795, due to the harsh conditions of imprisonment he had endured for over two years.

Description

Elegant miniature painting depicting Luigi XVII in excellent conservation condition within its ivory-like frame, dimensions with frame 14x12 cm, the painting alone 9x7 cm, painted in the style of Alexandre Kucharsky, a Polish painter, but from the late 19th century.

Guarantees careful packaging and shipping.
