Magnificent decorative pierced egg made by the House of Fabergé for The Franklin Mint, entirely hand-sculpted and hand-painted, featuring a deep naturalistic scene.
The egg opens its shell like a jewel box, revealing an iridescent hummingbird, suspended in flight among delicately shaped violet thistles.
The openwork treatment gives a sense of movement and space, while the relief carved foliage envelops the scene like a vegetal nest.
The palette blends emerald and moss green nuances, lavender touches, and multicolored details, highlighted by the original golden base, finely decorated with baroque accents.
The piece is numbered and rests solidly on its golden metal pedestal, typical of Franklin Mint creations from the late 20th century.
