The first edition of Emaux et Camées by Théophile Gautier, a French poetry collection of 106 pages published in Paris in 1852, bound in ochre half‑morocco with gilt decoration and blue vellum title piece, in very good condition.

Original edition on heavy paper of one of Théophile Gautier's most famous poetry collections.
Bound in half-calf ochre, with double gold fillets along the edges, smooth spine decorated with a delicate pattern of gilded irons and fillets, a dark blue title piece with gilded initials, and a gilded head. Covers preserved (without the spine).
Beautiful, untrimmed copy. Decorative binding showing minor rubbing at the headbands and edges. Interior in excellent condition, free of foxing.
