This is a complete set of 8 Japanese Showa period Buddhist ritual bell ensembles (orin), comprising a total of 32 pieces: 8 copper or brass orin bells, 8 colourful brocade cushions, 8 stands (wooden and plastic), and 8 strikers with cloth coverings.

These bells are used in Buddhist rituals to punctuate prayers and moments of meditation with a distinct, resonant chime. Unlike Himalayan singing bowls, which are rubbed in a circular motion, orin bells are gently struck to produce a single, fading tone that creates a serene atmosphere.

Each bell rests on a decorative cushion with vibrant woven patterns, supported by lacquered or wooden stands. The set includes strikers of various designs to complement the bells.

There are signs of age-related wear, including minor scratches, patina, and signs of use. Notably, one of the cushions show stains, fading, and some visible burn marks—likely from incense or candles used during rituals. There are also green rusts on bells, and minor blemishes on the strikers. Please refer carefully to the photos for the condition details.
