Adrianus Johannes (Arie) Zwart was a Dutch painter who painted in the style of the Hague School. Zwart was born in Rijswijk on August 30, 1903, and died in Laren on August 27, 1981.

Arie Zwart painted many landscapes and still lifes. Adrie Zwart was very versatile. Although his early work had a somewhat dark tone, his later work was light and often colorful in tone. He was a prolific painter.
He lived in a caravan. He had three children. Later, Zwart lived on houseboat De Trekschuit, moving to different moorings to paint in the area. He traveled frequently to places like Spain and France to paint there as well. During the war years, he lived with his family near Meppel. Later, he resided in Alkmaar, Voorburg, and Woerden.
In 1974, he went to live with his wife at the Rosa Spier House (Laren). He died there in 1981.
