Scena religiosa, an oil on canvas painting by Scuola italiana (XVII), dated 1650, in the Caravaggisti style, measuring 90 by 80 cm, Italy, unsigned, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
It is an oil painting on canvas from the Caravaggesque period, probably from the 17th century, depicting a religious scene, perhaps Saint Sylvester Pope or the Flagellation of Christ.
Subject: The work depicts two figures, one male in pontifical garments or simple robes and the other kneeling, in a dark and dramatic setting typical of the seventeenth century.
Style: The style is attributed to an artist active in Naples or Italy, influenced by Caravaggio.
Technique: It is an oil on canvas of oval shape, set in a dark wooden frame.
Provenance: similar works have been found in private collections in Naples and on the online art market.
Measurements 1.10x90 cm, painting only 90x80
The necessary repairs, if any, are provided free of charge, and should also be considered valuable as they are very old. COMPLAINTS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.

Various parts of the restored painting are clearly visible in the photo; the lower part is cracked but still intact.
