Matalaz is one of the wines made by Oxer Bastegieta, a young Basque viticulturist who works his century-old vineyards following regenerative agriculture that results in unique wines of great recognition. In love with Rioja Alavesa, he decided to bet on this region to bring his art in viticulture to the world. A distinguishing feature of this winegrower is his interest and respect for the old plots, in order to seek the immortality of his wines. For this reason, their preparations have minimal intervention in the winery and their vineyards are worked organically. Each of their wines has its own message and represents its very particular way of seeing the world.

Matalaz is a tribute to the wines of yesteryear. Made with a combination of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano grapes and aged in barrels for 8 months, it is a red wine with fresh acidity and floral and red fruit notes. Oxer Matalaz is a very subtle wine with production limited to 3,800 bottles per year.
