Description from the seller
Very special and rare bronze bottle holder of significant aesthetic quality and craftsmanship.
The birth of the original piece of art begins with a pocket for balls in the corner of a billiard table, of great aesthetic quality from the early 1800s, in Papal Rome.
The high quality and attention to detail place it at a very high level in its sector.
Interesting use made in this noble house of the bronze, a bottle holder that is beautiful and functional with the bottle inside, very lovely as a decorative object also thanks to the image of the fine sculpture of the Turrited Cybele, taken as a symbol of Italy and the united cities since the Risorgimento.
The crowned Italy is a personification of Italy, whose symbol of the wall crown derives from ancient Rome, particularly from the figure of the goddess Cybele, and represents Italian cities united under a single flag.
Subsequently, the figure of the crowned Italy developed during the Risorgimento, embodying the unity and strength of the nation.
In bronze, lost wax casting, composed of two parts: the angle piece and the socket for the ball, joined together by a pin.
Measures 23 cm in width x 20 cm in height x 20 cm in depth. Weight 1100 g. Excellent condition, with no damage or restorations.
With thorough research on the web, we found on the 'Restaldi 1763' website a billiard table that features the same bronzes at the corners. For historical reference, we include the last three photos and the description provided by the manufacturer in our presentation.
Directly from the secret rooms of the Vatican, Restaldi displays for the pleasure of the senses this splendid and majestic example of Italian billiard dated 1811, unique in its kind.
Quickly, very well packaged with styrofoam and/or bubble wrap, and shipped with tracking and insurance with the best shipping agencies.
The shipping cost includes shipment tracking, packaging material, and insurance for the artwork.
Due to customs and duties issues, we do not ship to the U.S.A.
