Lalique crystal baguier Colombe, an Art Deco piece dating to 1960–1970, with satin-finished body and polished base, 6.5 cm high, 10 cm wide and 10 cm deep, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Baguier Colombe Posée is an iconic piece from the Maison LALIQUE, inheritor of the animalier tradition initiated by René LALIQUE (1860-1945) and skillfully continued by his successors. Far from the dramatic flair of wings fully spread, this version captures the serenity and contemplation of a resting dove, or just before a slight tremor.
The sculpture features a unique and stylized dove, whose wings, although clearly defined, are gathered along the body or slightly spread, giving the bird an appearance of majestic calm. The dove is placed on a central pedestal that emerges from a functional and elegant circular dish.
As demonstrated by the provided image, the magic of Lalique operates through the play of texture contrasts.
The body of the dove, its head, and the fine detail of its feathers are crafted in satin crystal (frosted). This treatment gives the piece a misty softness and timeless opalescence, which caresses the light rather than reflecting it sharply, evoking the silky texture of feathers and the purity of the animal.
In striking contrast, the base cup is perfectly polished and shiny, creating a reflective surface for the jewelry it will hold. Similarly, precise details such as the eyes or the contours of the beak are re-polished, infusing subtle life and sharp definition into the figure. The image reveals an elegant-profile dove, where the neck is slightly stretched, conveying an impression of tranquility and discreet grace.
This ring is a refined collectible piece that brings a touch of poetic tranquility and timeless elegance to any interior.
