A.R. Penck, Kammermusiksaal, 1990, screen print (Siebdruck) in black on wove paper, limited edition VI/X, 122 × 86 cm (sheet) with passepartout 133 × 91 cm, signed by Penck in pencil lower left, in decent condition.
Description from the seller
Artist: A. R. Penck
Motif: Chamber Music Hall, 1990
Screen printing in black on handmade paper.
122 cm x 86 cm (sheet) - with mount 133 x 91 cm
Edition X (here VI/X)
Links below: numbered and signed by hand in pencil by Penck.
Good condition
The work displays a sign composition typical of Penck, consisting of abstracted figures and symbolic elements. Inspired by musical structures, the artist develops a visual rhythm that makes the title Kammermusiksaal readable as a visual score. The piece was created in 1990 and belongs to Penck's large-format graphic works from this phase of his oeuvre.
For context - the motif was almost exclusively in red.
a. Signed or unsigned poster - edition size not known.
b. Screen print in red - Edition 50 - 122 x 86 cm
For documentation purposes — the last two recordings. Naturally, they are not part of the offer.
Here is the edition in black and white, only numbered in Roman numerals, with an edition size of 10; copy 6.
Restored completely by a professional paper restorer. A custom-made mat is included in the delivery; however, without a frame. Now nearly flawless – with a slight compression at the bottom left and a minimal dark edge (mostly covered by the mat), as the frame did not fit despite being custom-made, resulting in minor damage.
Otherwise flawless — difficult to value, as no other specimen is on the market.
