Description from the seller
Brass and glass service cart
- Italy, the Fifties
Elegant Italian service cart from the mid-twentieth century, made with a brass frame and two shelves of transparent glass. The object stands out for its simple and geometric lines, typical of Italian design in the 1950s, a period when functionality and formal refinement achieved a particularly successful balance.
The structure is made of brass uprights and frames, with a warm and luminous finish that gives the cart a sophisticated and timeless appearance. The design is rigorous but lightened by the transparency of the glass surfaces, which add visual depth and facilitate its integration into various environments, from the living room to the study area, up to more eclectic or modernist settings.
The two glass shelves allow for practical and versatile use: ideal as a bar cart, serving table, or support for books or decorative objects. The four original wheels ensure mobility, a distinctive feature of quality service carts produced in post-World War II Italy.
From a stylistic point of view, the work is situated within the realm of Italian post-war design, with references to rationalist aesthetics tempered by noble materials, in line with productions aimed at a cultured bourgeois audience attentive to international taste.
Good overall condition. Normal signs of age and use consistent with the period, particularly light oxidations and patina on the brass, which attest to its authenticity. The glass is intact. Structurally solid and perfectly usable.
A representative object of 1950s Italian design, particularly appreciated by the collecting market for its versatility of use, material quality, and formal elegance. Ideal both as a functional piece and as a decorative element with character.
Shipping
Careful and professional packaging, with specific protections for metal structures and glass surfaces. Traceable shipping throughout Europe.
