Description from the seller
Jewelry box or antique sewing box – red lacquered interior and mirror – France – circa 1850-1880
Description
Elegant vintage jewelry or sewing box with a lacquered red interior and an original pierced mirror.
Dark wood with a smooth exterior finish, missing the lock faceplate and key, with an interior mirror framed in black, all original.
A fine example of 19th-century craftsmanship, often offered as a toilet box or young lady's box.
State:
Good overall condition for its age.
- Some visible cracks inside and on the sides as well as on the cover (see photos).
Natural wear of the mirror
Signs of age consistent with an authentic and unrestored piece, even if it requires some restorations.
Approximate dimensions
Height: 11.5cm
Width: 16.5 cm
Length: 26.5 cm
2. Antique marquetry box – central red diamond – with key and tassel – France/England – circa 1850-1880
Description
Refined antique box with marquetry, likely intended for jewelry, sewing, or correspondence.
Star marquetry work with a central diamond in stained red wood.
Woods of different types (probably walnut, mahogany, etc.), with a beautiful patina.
It is equipped with its original lock and its old key, but it doesn't work. I insist on having it checked by a professional!
Interior in raw wood, without textile lining – a very decorative and authentic piece.
State:
Good overall condition, but numerous signs of wear are to be noted.
Small signs of use
Deformations of the cover
stripes, etc...
Approximate dimensions
Height: 9.5 cm
Width: 20cm
Depth: 25 cm
Look carefully at the photos, they serve as a description.
Shipping:
Careful packaging, shipping with tracking, and insurance included.
