Artist biography
Juli Batallé Murla (1926-2010) was a Catalan painter primarily associated with Olot, where he developed most of his artistic career. His work is characterized by landscapes, very much in the tradition of the Olot school, and also stands out for his work in drawing and engraving. He received awards for drawing and painting, such as the second prize at the Girona Youth Competition (1947), the Silver Medal from the School of Fine Arts (1962), and was selected for exhibitions of Catalan art abroad, such as in Grenoble (1976).
He exhibited in Catalonia, across Spain, and in European countries. He also stood out as a nativity scene artist and collaborated on rare book editions through engravings. His work is held in various museums, including the Museu Comarcal de la Garrotxa, and in collections across Europe and America.
