Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Two Dutch-language books by Tom Lanoye, Gelukkige slaven and Sprakeloos (signed), both special editions; Sprakeloos is a pre-publication of the first chapter of the forthcoming novel released in 2009, while Gelukkige slaven is an uncorrected proof not for sale.
Description from the seller
Tom Lanoye is known for his love of the rare bibliophile book. Most of his works are also available in a special edition alongside the regular version. In this lot, there are also two separate editions, but different from the ones mentioned earlier. Essentially the same, but still not 'ordinary'.
Here, 'Speechless' is offered as a pre-publication of the first chapter from Lanoye's new novel of the same name, which was scheduled to be published in September 2009. The booklet, bound in a soft cover with staples, was later signed by Lanoye. This is a beautiful copy.
The 'Happy Slaves' in this lot also concerns a prepublication, but in the form of a not-for-sale uncorrected proof. Such prepublications—at least those made in the Dutch language area—are known to have very limited print runs and are mostly sent to critics and a few booksellers. For the Slaves, it was no different. The recipient of the copy offered here has noted reading creases on the spine, but aside from those creases, the book block remains tightly in the cover. The qualification good is therefore not an exaggeration.
