Tataki Nomi (Striking Chisels): Several chisels feature the traditional steel hoop (Katsura) on the handle end, designed for mallet use.

Specialized Shapes:

Mortise-style Chisels: Includes long, narrow blades likely used for deep mortising work (Mukomachi Nomi) or reaching into tight spaces.

Hira Nomi (Flat Chisels): Standard flat blades for surface paring and smoothing.

One chisel features a high-quality Red Oak (Akagashi) handle with a well-fitted hoop, appearing in better condition than the rest.

Condition: Vintage / Restoration Required.

Blades: All blades show rust and oxidation. Some edges may have chips or unevenness and will require re-grinding and sharpening (Togi).

Handles:

The Red Oak handle is solid.

Other handles are heavily worn, with some showing battered ends where they have been struck repeatedly over the years. Some steel hoops may be loose or missing.

Functionality: Sold as a restoration project. The steel quality appears to be traditional laminated steel (hard steel forged to soft iron), which typically takes a very sharp edge once restored.
