Renaudot, Eusèbe. Collection of Eastern liturgies. 2 volumes. 18 pages, CXXVIII, 545 pages, 3 pages; 3 pages, XXIV, 648 pages, 2 pages. With 2 repeated woodcut printer's marks. 25 x 18.5 cm. Calf leather bindings of the period (more heavily rubbed, scratched, and bumped, joints cracked). Paris, Johann Baptist Coignard, 1716.
Second edition of the collection of liturgical texts from the tradition of the Eastern Christian churches, first published last year in the same place, compiled by the Parisian theologian and linguist Eusèbe Renaudot (1646-1720). Volume I contains Liturgiæ coptitarum three, Basil, Gregory the theologian, & Cyril of Alexandria ... Commentary on the Coptic liturgy of Saint Basil. Attached are four treatises: On the origin and authority of Eastern liturgies; On the Alexandrian liturgies; On the Coptic language; On the Patriarch of Alexandria. And in Volume II, the Syriac liturgies of Jacobite Syrians, translated from many Syriac manuscripts into Latin.
Partially browned or speckled in places, with some underlinings and marginalia, the rear hinge of Volume II cracked. An example from the possession of the theologian Jean d'Estrées, who was Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cambrai from 1716 to 1718. With his coat of arms stamp as well as a mounted bookplate on the title page.

One volume, 4°, 24 x 18 cm, engraved frontispiece, title in red and black. 811 pages, calf leather binding from the period with light brown spine label, on five bands. Corners bumped, slight damage to the headcaps. Volume 1 (v 3) is a self-contained text. Very clean inside, no foxing.
