Description from the seller
Pair of decorative boxes made with geometric mosaic technique in wood and bone, following the Nazarí tradition of Granada, inheritor of Andalusian and Mudéjar art. The surfaces are covered with intricate marquetry patterns, with meticulous inlays combining stained woods, bone, and possibly ivory or glass paste, forming star motifs, diamonds, and highly precise geometric designs.
Each box features a symmetrical composition, with highlighted geometric centers and edges framed by decorative bands inspired by Islamic art. The craftsmanship clearly reflects the influence of the designs that adorn the Alhambra, both in structure and in the visual rhythm of the motifs.
These pieces, datable to the 20th century, faithfully reproduce the ornamental language of Nazarí marquetry, and were probably made in Granada workshops specialized in traditional craftsmanship. Their technical and aesthetic quality makes them objects of great decorative and cultural value, appreciated by both collectors and enthusiasts of Hispano-Muslim art.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
