This exquisite woodblock print was created in the 1960s by an anonymous Japanese artist (to be verified). The composition centers on the urban landscape of Granada, Spain: buildings are rendered in warm tones (red/orange), creating a vivid color contrast with the deep green/teal vegetation and distant mountains; the light blue sky in the background further brightens the atmosphere. Geometric, fragmented lines are used to weaken realistic details while enhancing the decorative quality and layering of the work.
Blending Expressionist and modern printmaking characteristics, the piece uses blocks of color and lines to evoke a spatial mood, serving as an impressionistic depiction of Granada. The pencil-marked edition number "1/50", along with the artist’s pencil signature and seal, are located in the lower left corner of the print; the work’s title, also in pencil, appears at the bottom of the paper’s reverse side.
