French firefighter helmet Model 1885
French firefighter helmet, Model 1885 type 'Campagnard', originating from the Sapeurs-Pompiers of the commune of Lion-d’Angers (Maine-et-Loire department, Pays de la Loire region).
This model was worn during the Third Republic (1870–1940), mainly by fire brigades from smaller municipalities.
The helmet is made of brass, with a pressed front plate featuring the classic emblem of the French fire brigade: a flame grenade ('bombe enflammée') surrounded by laurel leaves, with a ribbon at the bottom bearing the inscription.
Firefighters of Lion d’Angers.
The comb features the typical 'campagnard' design with stylized flame decorations and decorative floral motifs.
Without internal mechanism, not complete.
