Description from the seller

In Blue Suspension, Cristian Mesa Velázquez captures a moment of absolute intimacy between the human body and the aquatic environment. The figure emerges diagonally, crossing the pictorial plane with an extended gesture that suggests progress, but also conscious abandonment. It is not a sports or narrative scene: it is a state, a contained pause where breathing, light, and silence blend beneath the surface.

The technical mastery of the oil painting is evident in the water's vibration, built from loose and luminous brushstrokes that fragment light into moving reflections. The skin, modeled with warmth and precision, contrasts with the enveloping blues of the surroundings, reinforcing the sensation of weightlessness. The diving mask does not act as an ornament but as a threshold: it separates the outside world from the character's interior space, emphasizing the idea of introspection and full presence.

From a curatorial perspective, this work dialogues with the contemporary figurative tradition but stands out for its sensory and emotional approach. Mesa Velázquez does not seek to describe the water; she makes you feel it. The viewer does not observe the scene from outside: they are invited to immerse themselves, to accompany the slow and meditative rhythm of the image.

This painting possesses a deeply habitable quality. In a private space, it acts as a point of visual and mental calm, a work that reveals itself over time and establishes a silent but constant relationship with those who contemplate it. For the collector, it represents an opportunity to acquire a piece that combines technical solidity, contemporary sensitivity, and an open narrative, capable of accommodating multiple interpretations.

Certificates of authenticity will be sent along with the artwork only in sales exceeding 500 euros.

Owning Blue Suspension is like bringing a fragment of tranquility and depth into your home: an image that does not impose but accompanies, transforming the space into a place of breathing, light, and sustained contemplation.
