Description from the seller

Magnificent work by the renowned painter from Xàtiva, Francisco Climent Mata, born in 1895 in Xàtiva and died in 1964. Climent Mata is considered one of the most prominent Spanish landscape painters of the 20th century. Son of merchants, he studied Fine Arts at the San Carlos Academy in Valencia and at the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona, with the aim of dedicating himself to teaching in his hometown.

In addition to his painting work, Climent Mata was a key figure in revitalizing the Fallas in Xàtiva. In 1932, he designed a scaffold that was erected in the Plaça de la Bassa, in front of the headquarters of the Societat Musical Primitiva Setabense, which boosted the reappearance of the Fallas in the city and encouraged the creation of new fallera committees.

The work presented is an oil on canvas that reflects Climent Mata's mastery in depicting Valencian landscapes, with refined technique and a palette of colors that captures the essence of Mediterranean light.
