Description from the seller
This is a natural Japanese whetstone from the Iyo region, traditionally known as Iyo Tōishi (伊予砥石). The stone is identified as the “Autumn Leaves” (紅葉, Momiji) type, named for its warm coloration and natural patterning.
Iyo whetstones are valued in Japan for their balanced sharpening characteristics and are typically classified as medium grit, suitable for general sharpening and edge refinement. As with all natural whetstones, performance may vary depending on blade material and steel composition.
The stone measures approximately 130 × 70 × 25 mm and weighs about 454 g, making it a practical size for regular use. Please note that, due to its natural origin, the stone may be sensitive to temperature changes, humidity, or impact, and could crack if mishandled.
After use, it is recommended to remove all moisture, wrap the stone in a cloth or towel, and store it in a dry, stable environment. Avoid exposure to water, frost, or sudden temperature fluctuations.
This item is ideal for collectors, Japanese tool enthusiasts, or users seeking an authentic natural whetstone.
