Son of a rich family, Raymond Thibésart was born in Bar-sur-Aube on May 2, 1874. Shortly after, his parents settled in Enghien, in the near suburbs of Paris. It is there that the Thibésarts meet a Venezuelan family who have just arrived in France, the Boggios. Very gifted at drawing, Thibésart admired Emile Boggio, 17 years his senior, who gave him his first lessons when he was eleven. The master Emile Boggio, a very talented Venezuelan impressionist painter, became Raymond Thibésart's first teacher.
From 1897 ; member, then gold medalist of the Society of French Artists, regularly exhibits at the Autumn Salon and the Independents Salon.
