Description from the seller
This is the LAST EXCLUSIVE BEST-OF-PHOTOBOOKS AUCTION by 5Uhr30.com, Cologne, Germany -
STARTING THIS YEAR.
'Everyone remembers this famous image by Édouard Boubat in which a young woman with dark hair, her bust forward like the prow of a ship, seems to be contemplating the future.
This woman is Lella.
Édouard Boubat went on holiday with her and a friend, Séguis. They share their passion for art, they love each other...
Fifty years on, the photographer and his muse lift the veil on this part of their youth and on their story, caught up in the joyous and poetic whirlwind of an era whose charm is gone forever.'
(publisher's text on the rear side)
New, mint, unread - COLLECTOR'S COPY.
Fantastic publication by Édouard Boubat, beside Brassai, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Willy Ronis, Lucien Clergue, Robert Doisneau, Raymond Depardon, Marc Riboud or Jacques-Henri Lartigue one of the most famous french photographers (1923-1999).
In a career that spanned more than fifty years, photographer Edouard Boubat (1923-1999) captured the magic of fleeting moments with tenderness and warmth. A contemporary of Robert Doisneau and one of the most influential French photographers of the 20th century, Boubat made elegant, poetic pictures, beginning with images of everyday life in his native city of Paris and moving on to striking pictures taken on his travels to Kenya, India, Spain, Portugal, Brazil and China. His photographs were the subject of a major exhibition at the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1976, the same year he published the first major book on his work.
