Georgian sterling silver star burst brooch, 3 cm long, about 7.9 g, with white paste stones, unhallmarked but tested as sterling silver, secure pin and C clasp, dating to circa 1850–1900; one paste has been replaced.
Description from the seller
Exquisite Georgian Sterling silver Star burst brooch embellished with white paste in excellent condition.
Stones have not been tested, however it looks like it has a black dot inside.
“An exceptional Georgian star brooch set with white paste gemstones . It's crafted in sterling silver, made in England - by hand - in the first half of the 19th century, circa 1810. Made at a time when the precision of machines didn't apply to production of such small articles, but the skill of the artisan craftsmen was such that they turned out near-perfect every time.
The brooch was made at a time when paste gems could command as much (if not more) than natural gemstones, on account of the technology being so new and that the stones would be completely clear and free from inclusions.”
Secure pin and C clasp
Not Hallmarked but tested as sterling silver.
Length approximately 3 centimetres
Weight approximately 7.9 grams
Note:
Many of my items are vintage and are therefore likely to show some age-related wear. This can include things such as: scratches, discolouration etc. Please be sure to look through each photograph carefully and read the description fully, to get an idea of quality.
One paste came of and has been replaced.
THE CASE IS FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE.
Import charges are buyer’s responsibility!
