First edition of this treatise on Occultism: hundreds of engraved plates on the most varied themes: Astrology, Occultism, Magic, Astronomy, Architecture, Mathematics, Geometry.
Particularly interesting book on 'Chaos,' which illustrates the influences of (mobile and fixed) Stars on medicine and health, in relation to the different ZODIAC SIGNS, as we can read in the Zodiac caption: 'In the case of illness, when the Moon is in the sixth degree of Aries...'.
First edition of Ringelberg’s works, complete with the treatise on arithmetic. 99 full-page woodcut plates.
Mortimer describes this edition of the work as 'an example of Gryphius’s use of the small format for excellent academic editions of the work of contemporary authors.' Mortimer / Harvard French 460; Adams R-560.
Contemporary leather binding, frames and titles engraved in gold, damp mark at the beginning, first two sheets restored ab antiquo, owner’s note handwritten on the title page. Numbering gap from p. 514 to p. 571, pages not included in the binding. Pp. 688, [2]. Sheets heavy with glue and perfectly inked, the plates about perspective are inspired by drawings made by Viator and Rodler.
