AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

For an overall impression of the condition, see images.
Glass is in excellent condition.

The lamps feature a handle that can also serve as a hanging bracket. In later editions, this element is often missing.

Charles Pigeon (1838-1915) became known for his oil lamps. He was born in Normandy and moved to Paris at a young age, where he worked as a merchant. In the last quarter of the 19th century, there was a great demand for safe lighting, and Charles developed a non-explosive (important at that time!) portable oil lamp.
In 1884, he applied for a patent on a lamp, the result of his work, and in 1900, he presented the lamp at the World's Fair in Paris, where it received special recognition. The invention made him a wealthy man.
