Artist KARL LAGASSE
Karl Lagasse, born on April 4, 1981, in Paris, is a French artist. He is the creator of the One Dollar sculpture and the trophy for the 43rd edition of the Deauville American Film Festival.

artistic career
Karl Lagasse's career began in 1996 with the sale of his first artwork in Antwerp, at the age of 15.
A few years later, in 2003, he prepared his first exhibition in Paris, where he displayed his works that mix collage and painting, as Yvaral Vasarely[4], the son of Hungarian painter Victor Vasarely, had suggested to him during their meeting in 1998.
He started sculpture in 2004 and found inspiration by looking at Les Nuits Blanches. He then began searching for his style and started the series of 'Buildings,' totemic works made from various materials. In the same year, he left Paris to settle in Normandy.

In 2006, Isy Brachot, a renowned gallery in Brussels, dedicated an exhibition to him. One painting did not find a buyer. Karl Lagasse then offered it to a collector who was unable to purchase it.
In 2008, he returned to Paris to exhibit at the Espace Pierre Cardin. Paintings, sculptures, and photographs were presented. A film about the creation of the works was also shown.
2009, the year of creation of one of the artist's most emblematic works, the One Dollar. A piece born from his admiration for the United States but also a symbol of what can be achieved with just one dollar; 'Making art with $1'.

In 2010, he was chosen to represent the municipality of Deauville (Normandy) at the world equestrian championship 'Horsemania', held in Lexington (United States), a twin city of the Norman seaside resort, for which he created a sculpture.
After the 'One Dollar', whose success is international, it presents another work that will also become emblematic, the 'Cryptogram One'. It is at the Art Monaco fair in 2011 that the public discovers it.
To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival in 2012, a 'Building' measuring 2.80 meters by 60 centimeters wide was created using concrete, wood, glass, and photographs in collaboration with Corbis, and displayed at the Carlton Cinema Club. Artists attending the festival were invited to sign the piece and leave a message. Among those who did are José Garcia, Michel Hazanavicius, Bérénice Bejo, Gad Elmaleh, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., Tim Roth, Matthew McConaughey, and Zac Efron.
