Description from the seller
MiLo – “Grid of Echoes”
(Other strong title options below)
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Grid of Echoes explores repetition, residue, and the quiet rhythm of structure.
Soft, pale centres emerge from deep black fields, each surrounded by rough, textured edges that recall worn surfaces, erased marks, or something slowly revealed through time.
The vertical and horizontal bands linking the forms act like pathways, seams, or connective tissue, giving the grid an organic rather than mechanical presence.
The subtle tonal shifts — from charcoal to ivory to faint warm undertones — create a sense of depth and inward glow, making each cell feel like a small chamber of memory.
Despite its geometric layout, the work remains expressive and tactile, balancing precision with erosion and gesture.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.

About the artist
MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based artist with a background in photography and art studies.
He has sold more than 800 original works, now residing in private collections, hotels, restaurants, and offices across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
His practice ranges from early Pollock-inspired action paintings to geometric compositions and the layered, scratched surfaces he explores today.
MiLo investigates the tension between construction and erosion—building up and scraping back until traces emerge.
The forms may recall urban structures, botanical shapes, geological strata, or remnants of thought, while remaining open to interpretation.
Each work is part of an ongoing exploration of abstraction, memory, and transformation, making MiLo one of the most prolific and recognizable contemporary artists on Catawiki.
