Description from the seller
An exceptional and refined Art Deco French dressing table set, created in Paris circa 1920, exemplifying the elegance and quality of early 20th-century Parisian silver craftsmanship.
The set comprises three matching pieces:
-a lidded glass vanity jar with finely engine-turned (guilloché) 950 silver mount,
the interior of the silver lid is gilt (gold-washed), a traditional functional and luxury detail,
-a silver-mounted hair brush,
-a silver-mounted comb.
All items are preserved in their original fitted presentation case.
Maker & Hallmarks:
The pieces bear a French maker’s mark in a horizontal lozenge reading “FRÈRES”.
Due to age and wear, parts of the mark (including the initial letter and animal symbol) are partially indistinct; however, the mark is consistent with D. Frères, a Parisian brothers’ silversmith workshop active in the early 20th century.
Fully marked with the Paris Minerva hallmark for 950 silver.
