Imposing walnut statue depicting a
seated and crowned Holy Virgin holding the Infant Jesus who sits on her lap. A provincial Spanish statue with a lot of character. Date 17th/18th century.
The hands of the Infant are missing as well as one hand of the Virgin and a part of the crown. The massive piece of wood this statue in carved of has some cracks.
The iconografy of this statue might be inspired on earlier so called Sedes Sapientiae statues.
A very spiritual and meditative work of art, suitable for private devotion or to adorn a chapel or Church
