This Shinto kamidana (Home Shrine) set includes a total of eight pieces: one torii gate, five shinkyo (sacred mirrors) with stands, and two additional sacred mirrors.
The shinkyo holds deep symbolic meaning in Shinto belief. As it reflects sunlight, it represents Amaterasu Ōmikami, the sun goddess and one of the most revered deities in Japanese mythology. Serving as a sacred vessel, the mirror is believed to embody divine presence, allowing worshippers to feel a connection with the deity. By seeing their own reflection in the mirror, practitioners are encouraged to purify their hearts and approach the divine with sincerity, making it an essential element in daily rituals and prayers.
The sacred mirrors are made of a tin-brass alloy. Signs of aging include wear, some spots, and patina. Please refer to the photos for details on the condition.
Dimensions of Torii: approx. H 16 cm W 19.5 cm D 2.8 cm
Dimensions of Mirror with Red Stand: approx. H 10.8 cm W 9.4 cm D 2.5m
