Francesco Tomei is a Roman artist, graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma with Franco Gentilini, known for his figurative and surreal painting that explores reality and the unconscious, exhibiting in group shows since 1966 and solo exhibitions since 1971, with a connection also to Japan.
Education: Academy of Fine Arts of Rome (with Franco Gentilini).
Style: Figurative painting inspired by the Secondo Novecento (such as Guttuso, Cagli), with surrealist and fantastical elements.
Career
First collective exhibition in 1966 at Borgo a Mozzano.
First solo exhibition in 1971 at the Etrusca Gallery in Rome.
Winner of the First Prize of the Accademia di San Luca (1971).
Exhibitions in Japan (Osaka, Tokyo) during the 1970s.
